As soon as he was eligible for a wish, 14-year-old Micah knew he wanted his wish to be something different and unique. Something that wouldn’t be possible without Make-A-Wish. His decision? To cuddle a koala.
It was that decision that helped take his mind off his leukemia treatment.
“Micah spent so many hours in the hospital thinking about his wish,” said his mom Jennifer. “When he felt his worst, he and I would talk about Koalas. It seemed to make those days a little better for him and almost always put a smile on his face.”
In May, the Northwest Arkansas family experienced Micah’s once in a lifetime wish come true at the Australia Zoo.
“Micah was smiling from ear to ear,” Jennifer exclaimed. “It was definitely a trip of a lifetime. This wish has given him something hopeful to think of through all those rotten treatments and terrible days.”
