Charvis' dream in life was to be drafted by the Memphis Grizzlies, his favorite team in the NBA.
On a cold Sunday morning, wish kid Charvis and his family drove downtown to have brunch at the beautiful Westin Hotel's restaurant, Bleu. As he and his family were seated, Charvis had no idea that he was about to make memories to last a lifetime.
Seated in a special section of the restaurant were his Make-A-Wish volunteers Pam Proctor and Olivia Lowe, wish sponsor Cheer for the Kids, and Make-A-Wish Mid-South staff. Everyone was talking and laughing, enjoying brunch as if they were not in a big secret.
Charvis and his family were finishing their meal when all of a sudden, Memphis Grizzlies announcer Pete Pranica came in the restaurant repeatedly calling out "Charivs Brewer!" Pete found Charvis quickly and shared some exciting news: Charvis: he was being drafted by his favorite team, the Memphis Grizzlies! Pete explained that Charvis would need to come to the FedEx Forum right away to meet the team and attend practice before their big game on Monday night.
Charvis could not hide his excitement and smile; he glowed as everyone around him cheered and clapped. Surprising Charvis even more, Memphis Grizzly Mike Conley walked in with an official jersey welcoming Charvis to the Grizzlies family.
Charvis then was escorted via limo to the FedEx Forum to get to practice. Once inside, Charvis and his family attended a signing day "press conference" with Grizzlies Coach Joerger, helped the coach at practice, hung out in the locker room and ate lunch with the team, and received his own jersey and official Grizzlies team gear.
By the end of the day, Charvis was the happiest boy and biggest Grizzlies fan imaginable! Many thanks to everyone who made this wish possible!
