I wish to go to the set of Star Wars

Reid visiting with Star Wars characters in the London wax museum

“ If you have the ability to help others, this is the cause you want. You are able to give kids a light they didn’t have, even if it’s just for a moment. ”

- Michelle, Reid's mom

Reid was diagnosed with cancer in January of 2015. At the time just seven-years-old, he went through treatment and several surgeries in an effort to combat the disease. In April of 2016, Reid found out his cancer was in remission, and just two days later he learned that Make- A-Wish Mid-South was granting his wish to go to London to visit the set of Star Wars! When he found out, his mom Michelle said, “his mouth completely dropped [in excitement].”

Reid couldn’t believe this was actually happening for him. But Reid was not the only one impacted by his wish being granted. His mom says the entire family had a sense of renewed strength they didn’t have during Reid’s battle with cancer. The wish came at a perfect time and on his wish trip, Reid celebrated being in remission and also his ninth birthday! “It was everything to our family. To give him something that mom and dad could never…we’re just grateful beyond any words,” said Russell.

Reid still talks about his wish, sharing with other potential wish kids saying, “You can dream your wildest dream and Make-A-Wish can make it happen!”

Don’t think small, dream big! ”

— Reid, wish kid
