Jimi's Sea World Adventure

“ It proved to all of us that Jimi was back to himself. ”

- Kirsten, Jimi's mom

Jimi is a sweet and fun-loving child with a smile that could warm anyone’s heart. But when he was diagnosed with acute leukemia, the people that loved him were heartbroken to see him suffer with such a harsh condition.

Jimi is a sweet and fun-loving child with a smile that could warm anyone’s heart. But when he was diagnosed with acute leukemia, the people that loved him were heartbroken to see him suffer such a harsh condition.

After his diagnosis in July of 2014, Jimi spent five months in the hospital for very aggressive treatment. Even after being released from the hospital, he could not leave home because of his weak immune system.

“It was a really rough battle for us all,” said Kirsten, Jimi’s mom, “he didn’t get to do what a 4-year-old does.”

His wish to go to Sea World came from Jimi’s love of animals. Kirsten says, “he said he wanted to see alligators in a swamp.”

Jimi’s leukemia was in remission when friends and family revealed to him that his wish was coming true. It gave them all something to look forward to. At his wish reveal Jimi was given pictures to countdown the days until his wish.

“The first thing he did every morning was change the picture,” Kirsten said, “it gave us all something to look forward to.”

Also at his wish reveal was band that made Jimi feel like it was a welcome home parade. He said he felt like hero. He still likes to look back at pictures from that day.
Jimi’s wish was to see alligators, but it didn’t end there. He had the opportunity to hold a small alligator. He couldn’t believe he was actually touching the amphibian.

His wish meant so much to he and his family. Before the wish, his family was unsure if he was completely healthy again. But the trip is something they will never forget! It gave them a chance to relax, and it gave them hope.

“It was a landmark. It proved to all of us that Jimi was back to himself,” said Kirsten, “Jimi’s recovery was a gift. This was the bow on the gift.”
