It was a beautiful day in Ozark, Arkansas when wish kid Dylan made an unexcpected stop at the city park. He thought he was going to hang out with some friends, but when he saw Kaila and Darlena (Make-A-Wish volunteers), he asked “What is going on? Why are y’all here?”

He and his family came to the entrance of the park where he saw news cameras and his excitement began to build. A few minutes later a truck drove in honking its horn continuously. The truck stopped and Scott, from the Arkoma Basin Oilfield crew, got out. He gave Dylan a fishing tackle bag and told that the Make-A-Wish Foundation had contacted them about his wish. “We were thrilled to be able to help out,” said Scott.

Dylan looked in the bag which held various fishing items. Some people from the crowd walked up to him and gave him gift bags with even more fishing gear. Then there was a small parade of trucks pulling in, each stopping to give him more gifts. He also received shirts and hats from The Tackle Box, who helped the Arkoma Basin Oilmen with the gifts for Dylan.

More honking continued. Ray Scheide’s tournament truck and boat pulled in. According to Dylan’s volunteers, they thought he was going to faint once he saw Mr. Scheide. He spoke with Dylan and invited him to go fishing.

Dylan thinks that this is the greatest the day could be and then more truck honking continues. A 1952 Mack truck from Christmas Trucking pulled in with Dylan’s wish: a bass boat. Dylan’s hand flew to his mouth and tears where in his eyes.

The Arkoma Basin Oilmen have filled the boat with gas and oil so it is ready to run. The entire crowd was happy, Dylan’s mom and grandmother were crying. Dylan was speechless - it was an amazing day!

Dylan’s wish was sponsored by the Arkoma Basin Oilfield Fishing Tournament - many thanks for making this day so special!
